‘Jupiter – The bringer of jollity’

photography by Alejandro Cavallo

styling by Emma Pulbrook

Hair and make up by Pace Chen

Modelling by Yasmin Ogbu

The Last Planet is a fashion photography project by Alejandro Cavallo inspired by Gustav Holst’s symphony “The Planets”.

It consists of a series of 7 diptychs, a fashion image facing an abstract image, where each one represents a planet.
The aim of the project is to illustrate the idea of another world, both poetically and metaphorically. The titles of each movement in the symphony The Planets were taken to construct each picture:

Mars, the bringer of War
Venus, the bringer of Peace
Mercury, the Winged Messenger
Jupiter, the bringer of Jollity
Saturn, the bringer of Old Age
Uranus, the Magician
Neptune, the Mystic
The images symbolize possible scenario metaphors for what Earth could become under the situations that each of these planets is represented by (war, peace, the messenger, jollity, old age, magic and mystic). They illustrate the future and fate of a planet based on choice. These seven themes coexist in our world and all together conform a balance in our lifestyle, but these aspects can easily become unbalanced and end up ruling our present and future, creating a very polarized outcome that would affect us in profound ways.
